Strike, strike, strike!
Liberal Premier of Victoria Sir Henry Bolte had threats of strikes
from many state workers and interest groups with whom he often
battled verbally in his daily press conferences. He took pleasure in
the contact and the publicity for his beloved Victoria.
On this occasion, Jeff also decided to go 'on strike' with his signature
'Hook'. The result was mayhem in "The Sun News Pictorial" offices the
next day. The phone lines were jammed continuously and he ended up on
radio and television explaining the omission. Not only was Jeff ordered
never to leave the Hook out again, but a sub-editor was giving the job of
checking for it in case it was left out by accident.
