Falling apart?
The Whitlam Government's purchase of the iconic painting Blue Poles by Jackson Pollock for $1.34 million had caused heated discussion on many sides.
At this stage in 1974 many contentious issues were the cause of sacking and resignations and near disintegration of the cabinet
of the incumbent Labor Party Government.
