With the Lonie report still to come and services being cut back there
was great concern about the future of Victoria's public transport needs.
A hike in the cost of public transport left the Victorian population
feeling that they had been held to ransom.
About the use of Ned Kelly. At same time as the fare increase the Kevin Dobson and George Miller TV series about the Kelly Gang, "The Last Outlaw", was being released. Given the public feeling about the fare increase, it is not hard to see the parallel!
