Trouble with the wheels!
Australian Labor Prime Minister Bob Hawke lead his party to victory
in 1983.The slogan "Bringing Australians Together" promised to unite
the population. The Whitlam Dismissal and the subsequent election of Liberal
Government of Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser had left deep divisions
in many minds.
By 1990 problems had emerged with the resignation of
W.A Labor Premier Peter Dowding due to party room pressure and the
installation of Carmen Lawrence as his successor. In Victoria Labor
Pemier John Cain wrestled with alleged branch stacking in the
Thomastown branch of the electorate of Scullin.
