Prime Minister Bob Hawke and his Labor Government had overseen the deployment of
three RAN ships to the Persian Gulf.The two guided missile frigates HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Darwin,
plus the supply ship HMAS Supply, joined the international blockade of Iraq after it's invasion of Kuwait on the 2nd August, 1990.
A lean supply remained for The Australian Navy.
HMVS Cerberus was scuttled as a breakwater off Half Moon Bay,
Black Rock, Victoria in 1924 after having spent her career in Port Phillip Bay. Since 1949 some attempts have been made to restore her.
