Trouble unfurling...January 1975 saw Gough Whitlam go to cabinet with a number of economic reforms. A few days before the cartoon, Bob Hawke - then ACTU President - had made a wage claim on behalf of member workers. The claim was based on 'indexation' of wages to the rate of inflation. A two day meeting at around the same time saw Cabinet scrap many of the proposed reforms. |
